A 213k route visiting the sites of GREAT WAR MEMORIALS in LEIXLIP, CELBRIDGE, DUNLAVIN, KILDARE, CLONGOWES and finally CULMULLEN.  It is a mainly flat route. Be aware that there are 3 sections of track.  The 1st track follows the Liffey through the grounds of CASTLETOWN HOUSE (there is a grand fence to be climbed at the end of this section).  The 2nd one is the most treacherous boasting some of the finest pot holes ever seen.  The 3rd one is along the BARROW WAY running adjacent to the GRAND CANAL en route to Robertstown.  They will be clearly indicated on your route sheet.  The BARROW WAY surface is loose heavy grade gravel so some care is advised.  The 10k stretch from Clane to Tagadoe cross(via Barberstown rbt) is a fairly busy stretch of road so beware.  Single file if you are in a group.  Controls at BALLYMORE EUSTACE 63 K. KILDARE 100K and MAYNOOTH 150K.  The finish is at WHITEHALL CH.  If there is nobody to validate your brevet card obtain a receipt from an adjacent shop or Banklink machine(there are 2 shops about 50 metres to the right of the car park).  Post the card back to me with all receipts, and DONT FORGET TO SIGN IT****

The usual terms and conditions apply,  THIS IS A SELF SUPPORTING EVENT, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO BACK UP

Cycling Ireland Licence required, One-day Licence available on the day for €5.00

  1. The old saying,”If you have nothing good to say about something say nothing at all” So I’ll leave it at that.
