Route Description:

POD asked me to put something on for the centenary and so I plucked this out the bag.

This event was originally temporary substitution for N2S as we couldn’t go south last year.  Its basically the N2S with the South chopped off.

On the first running me and one other rider ascended Divis, did about 10km more in pouring freezing conditions and then turned and went home!

Richard G has done it twice since and says its beautiful.  I have made some changes to the route from his recommendations and feedback on the N2s:

  • Route out is Moneynick road.  Thanks to Brian for building the A6 so this road is now quiet.
  • Shortened Derry city route on Richard’s recommendations.  Route now passes Derry Girls mural which is ideal for a selfie.
  • Back in the way we go out (no summit) to avoid Belfast

Start Boucher Road / Balmoral Road – used to be B&Q – now the range

Parking – on street.  There are always a couple of big cranes parked there – but they never seem to move!

Sign on 5:30 – 5:50 AM

Controls:

11.7km – Divis: Photo Bike leaning against Mast (fence) or the Height Marker / cairn

CAUTION: there will be 2 way traffic on the path – please ride on the left and watch for walkers.

86km – Shepard Rest Bar info question.

138 – Derry – Selfie – Derry Girls

185 – Magilligan Point – Selfie / Bikey ferry sign, pub or similar

Note – its only just over the 300km so no cutting corners!
