A few updates

The page for the Midleton 200 has been updated with a map and some typically understated encouragement from Kevin O’Sullivan.

The page for the Virginia 300 has also been updated with a map, and some pre-emptive excuse-making from Eoghan Barry.

If you fancy an easy 300 in the beautiful west, take a look the page for the Quiet Man 300.

And I’ve added another half-dozen events to the list of Grand Randonnees in the right-hand sidebar in case any of you have developed an overpowering urge to do a 1200 this summer.

Fear and Loathing in Zwolle

Most ride reports, in all honesty, are pretty dull reading – I got on my bike, I rode for a bit, I ate some food, I rode some more, it started raining. But every now and again, a writer manages to transcend the limitations of the genre and produce something memorable, classic even. In his account of the 2010 Lowlands 1200, Marc Farrelly produced something that I will always treasure.  If you’ve never read it, settle down with a cup of tea and cast your eye over something I have retitled “Fear & Loathing in Zwolle”. You won’t regret it.
