Route Description:
The route takes in the best of the scenery of Co. Clare and touching Tipperary, Galway and Limerick. It meanders along rivers and lakes and over hills. One will take in the shores of Lough Derg, Portumna, Killaloe gap, Limerick City, Quin, the Shannon Estuary, Loop Head peninsula, Kilkee, the Clare Martello towers, the Burren, Poulnabrone Dolmen, Kinvarra, Black Head, Father Ted’s house, Kilmacduagh Abbey, Thoor Ballylee.
The roads mainly fair tar and chip except a 900m stretch between Fanore and Doolin and the 4km stretch of gravelly and grassy green road and there are of course a couple of hills in the course.
