Route Description:

The Ring of Clare 400 route loosely follows the Co. Clare boundary, taking in some the best of the scenery Co. Clare has to offer. Starting in Ballinruan it heads through the Burren landscape to Flaggy Shore, before heading to Fanore, Doolin, Moher, Spanish Point, Loop Head Peninsula, Shannon Estuary, Limerick, the much-dreaded gap road to Killaloe, Lough Derg and heading home over Mountshannon.

The roads are mixed, mainly fair tar and chip but a 4km stretch of untarred mountain road is included and of course a couple of hills with the best saved for last.

Total elevation gain is close to 4000 meters
