Address: Dromcarrig, Roxborough, Midleton, Co. Cork

Start: Supervalu carpark, Midleton, Co. Cork.
Start Time: 8am, Saturday 10th March, 2012

The route takes in Cork, Tipp and Waterford and features both mountains and coastal sections. Given the time of year, and the fact that there are a number of long climbs lights will be mandatory.

The Midleton 200 will be my first ride are there any gems of wisdom that you have learned the hard way that I can learn the easy way by being told about them in advance , Any advice very much needed and welcome .
-Take it easy during the first hour. Eat and drink regularly. Eat real food. Don’t wait until you’re hungry or thirsty. Bring extra layers of clothing. What’s warm enough when it’s dry mightn’t be when it’s wet.
- Bring a spare back and front light. Wear reflective ankle bands (the up and down motion is more motorist attention grabbing). Have a rescue strategy in case of mechanical failure.
- Reset your odometer at the start so that you can easily navigate with the route sheet in case you find youself on your own.
-Don’t forget to enjoy it.
Is that the kind of thing you mean?
Thanks thats just the kind of thing I mean really loking forward to it . Thanks again .
Kevin

Eddie and Ronnie are staying in Midleton Fri and Sat in a B and B, and have room for one more to travel with them. I am going down on Sat am, leaving at 5 and am booking into An Stor Hostel 021 633106 for Sat night. Aidan stayed there for last years 300 and said it was grand. The route looks tough and challenging with some lovely climbs, hopefully weather is going to be ok.
Hey
It’s looking like this is gonna be my first audax event…so iv got one or two questions!!
What’s the usual numbers for events like this? And are participants more in favour of lone riding usually rather than riding in groups…
Numbers are small in comparison to a sportive, Paul. We’ll have a better idea of actual numbers by the cut-off date for entries, but I would’t expect any more than about 30, particularly this early in the year. I stand corrected, however, as interest in audax is growing.
As to your other point, most tend to ride in groups and usually several groups form, but it all depends on ability or how hard you want to push yourself, and some riders do find themselves alone.
When is the cut off date ?
Oh. see it there in plain view… hope my direction finding is better on the day !
Hi – Is there a temp license available on the day ? – I don’t have a CI licence and am not clear if I can participate. Thanks.
Oh – I see it there ! How much extra on top of the 5 euro is the day license ? Cheers
just popped my entry in the post, I’ll be driving down over the night from Dublin if anyone wants a lift or to be picked up en route.
I forgot to register there, is it too late?
weather looks like being 12 or 13 C next sat with a south westerly breeze of 19. Perfect day for 200k!
I know that I have missed the closing date for entry, but is it too late to sign on? I am interested in doing the event.
Hi. I did send my entry & cheque away (many many weeks ago) and have been informed by Eoghan that my name is not on the start list. I have not heard anything from the organiser and do not have contact details for him.
Can I just arrive on the day?
Thanks
John
Folks, if you have enquiries, please contact Kevin directly instead of leaving comments here.
I see that I had omitted to link his name to his email above, I have rectified that now.
Thanks to Kevin for running a fantastic event once again on Saturday. Great route and summer weather. Sunburn in March, who’d have thought it!
